Guess who's back in the mo' fricken house?! Matt's house actually...his HOME STUDIO to be exact. And we're back recording two new tunes as it's now full speed ahead for the "Wiser Creatures" recording process. This week we focused on "She" and "Yourself" and to be quite honest, it was a little tougher than last week. We definitely got some good takes but they still may not necessarily be "the ones." Either way, we press on and come back to fine tune and redo what needs to be done once we've got a bunch of pretty solid takes of each song on the album.
The key thing is, I finally STARTED making this CD. I knew all I had to do was start with that first session to get my mojo back, and lo and behold, I can feel my energy and passion for doing this whole music thang returning. It doesn't hurt that the night before recording this, I took third in the KAOS Music Songwriters Competition and won some sweet swag to create a little home studio of my own. More on that soon, maybe some pictures or new demos care of yours truly.
The fact of the matter is:
We're back
We're ballin'
We're better than ever
But above all else, we are much 'wiser creatures' than we were before. Yup...that JUST happened.
Enjoy.
See ya soon!

About this blog
This is a blog to outline the recording of Joe Chammas' first full-length album Wiser Creatures, as well as other musical happenings. It will also occasionallly include demos, samples, videos, and random bits of nonsense straight from the camel's mouth (yes, I just referred to myself as a camel.)
About Me
- Joe Chammas
- My musical journey didn’t begin how most people think it did. In middle school I listened mostly to hip-hop. I began writing and performing rap until well into high school. I experimented with guitar but I was never good at it, so I gave up on it quickly. Once I graduated, I gave it another shot. The lyrics I was writing were taking a folksier, poppier turn. After high school I bought a bright pink Yamaha electric guitar. I wanted to play lead and master the art of “face-melting guitar solos.” That wore off quickly and I focused my energy on songwriting instead (and picked up my first and only acoustic guitar). I honed my craft in basements and backyards, open mic nights, and eventually a string of full sets at local lounges/coffee shops. In 2007, I started recording my first EP of original music called the window ep and it was released on July 18th, 2008. Since then I’ve been doing nothing but writing and performing. I finally began recording my first full album in late 2011 and I hope to have it finished by the summer of 2012. I would love to perform and record as a full-time job, but at the end of the day, I play music because it’s just plain good for my health.
