Howdy! So, in session 7 we knocked out our ninth tune "Energy" and then reviewed what we had so far to see if any changes needed to be made. After everything was finalized, we got together for session 8, our longest yet, to record the all-encompassing crescendo of the "Wiser Creatures" experience. Ladies and gentlemen, as far as recording goes...
WE...ARE...DONE! Just waiting on the mixing/mastering process, and I'm figuring out what to do terms of album art and duplication, etc. But this baby's droppin' REAL soon so stay tuned for more updates not just on the CD, but for an idea for an EP I've got brewin' as well.
I've got a bunch of demos I've recorded that didn't make it onto the CD, a lot of which are full and finished tunes. As part of my ploy to get some frequency in YouTube video posting to start gaining some traction there, I'm gonna put together a little series of demos and have people vote on them. The four with the most votes will go on an EP that I record myself with my new equipment I got from taking 3rd in the KAOS Songwriting Competition a little while back. And I'll start selling that little trinket at shows as a cheaper option for people who wanna buy some of my music but are strapped for dough.
So that's that! Hopefully a lot more updates on the musical front coming in the future, along with the release of my first big CD, "Wiser Creatures!"

About this blog
This is a blog to outline the recording of Joe Chammas' first full-length album Wiser Creatures, as well as other musical happenings. It will also occasionallly include demos, samples, videos, and random bits of nonsense straight from the camel's mouth (yes, I just referred to myself as a camel.)
About Me
- Joe Chammas
- My musical journey didn’t begin how most people think it did. In middle school I listened mostly to hip-hop. I began writing and performing rap until well into high school. I experimented with guitar but I was never good at it, so I gave up on it quickly. Once I graduated, I gave it another shot. The lyrics I was writing were taking a folksier, poppier turn. After high school I bought a bright pink Yamaha electric guitar. I wanted to play lead and master the art of “face-melting guitar solos.” That wore off quickly and I focused my energy on songwriting instead (and picked up my first and only acoustic guitar). I honed my craft in basements and backyards, open mic nights, and eventually a string of full sets at local lounges/coffee shops. In 2007, I started recording my first EP of original music called the window ep and it was released on July 18th, 2008. Since then I’ve been doing nothing but writing and performing. I finally began recording my first full album in late 2011 and I hope to have it finished by the summer of 2012. I would love to perform and record as a full-time job, but at the end of the day, I play music because it’s just plain good for my health.
